Strolling through the neighbourhood the following scene is becoming a daily routine. A man standing on a ladder on the sidewalk, unceasingly trying to find and fix the optimum position for a satellite dish, obeying monotonous instructions coming from the inside of one of the appartements. His seemingly unwavering devotion for this game with millimeters and angle seconds reminds one of a man from Northern Germany who is spending all of his spare time sticking to a similar occupation, and about whom it was already reported quite a few times. Though the difference between the two of them is the fact that the latter invests far more energy to put satellite dishes and directional aerials into the desired position. His one and only interest is dedicated to the discovery, identification and cataloguing of tv channels. He is registering the single programs and their contents rather marginally, though he shows a certain routine in assessing and classifying foreign channel profiles. To follow his passion, he by now acquired and developed quite a considerable arsenal of technical equipment, which is occupying the complete basement of a semi-detached house. The terrace is, like the front garden, already overgrown by the receiver equipment mentioned above. So now, here he is, turning the buttons and controllers, scanning land by land, continent by continent for new signs of media life, till, after hours or days a not yet known channel is trapped in his net.

Auf einem der Wege durch die Nachbarschaft, ist die folgende Szenerie in letzter Zeit zum gewohnten Anblick geworden. Ein Mann steht auf einer Leiter auf dem Gehweg und versucht unermüdlich, unter den monotonen Anweisungen einer Stimme aus dem Tiefpaterre, die optimale Einstellung für eine Satelittenempfangsantenne zu finden. Seine scheinbar unbeirrbare, fröhliche Hingabe an das Spiel mit Millimetern und Winkelsekunden erinnert an einen Mann aus Nordrhein-Westfalen, der in seiner Freizeit einer ähnlichen Beschäftigung nachgeht und über den vor einiger Zeit wiederholt berichtet wurde. Der Unterschied zwischen beiden dürfte allerdings darin bestehen, dass Letzerer noch weit mehr Energie investiert diverse Richtantennen und Satellitenanlagen in die gewünschte Position zu bringen. Sein ausschließliches Interesse gilt der Entdeckung, Identifizierung und Katalogisierung von Fernsehkanälen. Die jeweiligen Programme und deren Inhalte registriert er mehr am Rande, wobei er aber eine gewisse Routine bei der Beurteilung und Einordnung fremdsprachiger Senderprofile zeigt. Um seiner Leidenschaft nachzugehen, hat er mittlerweile ein ansehnliches Arsenal an technischen Einrichtungen erworben und entwickelt, das bereits das komplette Untergeschoss einer Doppelhaushälfte belegt. Die Terrasse, sowie der Vorgarten seines Domizils sind mit den bereits erwähnten. Empfangsapparaturen überwuchert. Da sitzt er nun und dreht an allerlei Reglern und Knöpfen, scannt Land für Land, Kontinent nach Kontinent nach immer neuen medialen Lebensformen ab, bis ihm nach Stunden oder Tagen ein noch unbekannter Sender ins Netz geht.
